Coziness in Turbulent Times

It’s another year and another chance to start over. Of course we can all start over again anytime we desire (I often have in September when U.S. schools and colleges have traditionally reopened after summer vacation) but there is an energy of encouragement when you know people around the globe are planning to tweak their lives.

This year I intend to make myself as cozy as possible when not at work or dealing with fighting fascism in my community, country, and world. I think coziness goes hand-in-hand with happiness and self-care.

To start my year-long journey to be cozier, I will be rereading a book I devoured last year titled: Cozy: The Art of Arranging Yourself in the World by Isabel Gillies. I intend to read it slower and savor it in an attempt to embed it in my mind and let it help guide me in choosing items and rituals that will make my life more cozy and soothing.

Another change this year is that I am going to have this blog be more like John Scalzi’s Whatever blog. I have started and restarted this blog many times over the last 10 years and lost things here and there. I tried to make it a lifestyle blog, then I tried make it a professional blog and website when I was in my master’s program and looking for a career in the field. Now it shall be a catch all for anything interesting to me on the day I post.

I hope you enjoy your time here!
